AKDN's Central Asia Stunting Initiative (CASI), in partnership with the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) and the Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan (AKF, P), aims to address child stunting in remote and underserved communities in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan.
Providing direct nutrition services to women and children is a crucial goal of the CASI, aimed at breaking the cycle of undernutrition. The program focuses specifically on the first 1000 days, beginning from pregnancy. The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme identified 136 remote and marginalized villages in Chitral, Ghizer, and Hunza valleys in Pakistan, with high levels of stunting, poverty scores, and food insecurity.
In partnership with the AKHS, P and AKF, dHRC developed the CASI mobile application for use by Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) providing services in select regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.
