The VirtualDoc application is an Android-based, end-to-end teleconsultation platform that virtually connects patients and doctors. This approach improves access to care, especially for patients in remote areas or with limited mobility. The app also reduces footfall in hospitals and ERs, helping alleviate the burden on these facilities during global health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Customized separately for East Africa and Pakistan, the platform is patient-centered with a variety of features that enable seamless interactions with specialized health care professionals at the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS).
Launched during the pandemic, the Elaj Asan and Pigia Daktari apps, continue to provide healthcare access in Pakistan and East Africa, respectively.
